    Hi,
Thank you very much for the “Expand All”script! It a really good tool!

Is it possible to create a similar script to to expand attendinglist on e.g:
    https://m.facebook.com/events/371101733304056/permalink/guests/?filter=others

I don’t know what it means to expand a guest list, but anyway, I won’t be the one to create such a tool since I’m sorry to say that I’d have no use for it.

    Hi,
Thanks for making expand all and link comments bookmarklet.

Actually i want to see only last comments of all posts on a search page.
Is it possible that the ‘expand all’ script runs only one time, expanding all the post on a search page and then i use ‘link comments’ script to see the last comment.

    1. Jens-Ingo Farley Avatar
      Jens-Ingo Farley

To approximate what you want to do, you would need to isolate each post of interest to its own tab/window (by ctrl-clicking its permalink timestamp URL) and then use the Expand All and Link Comments bookmarklets on each one.

Thanks for the ‘Expand All’ script! Sucks they make you jump through all the ‘more’ hoops just to read a thread. But, I guess they have to have some way to see what you are reading and gather analytics, cynically speaking. Kind of cumbersome, but I will work with Expand All to make it work best for me. Back in the day, all you had to do is press * to expand all. Guess we can’t have that huh?
    Again, Thanks!

You have no idea what a difference you have made in my life. I’m in a volunteer group that responds to requests for help that people make by mentioning us—and sometimes it’s in posts with hundreds or even thousands of comments. Today I did my first shift using your bookmarklet and let me tell you it made things SO MUCH EASIER. Do you have a Patreon? Can I make a donation?

Well, thank you. No donations or ad revenue—it seems simpler that way. I use the bookmarklet every day myself, so I’m motivated to keep it working.

    Hi,
Thank you very much for the “Expand All Facebook Comments”.
Can it be done to switch it from “Most Relevant” to “All Comments”?
I have to do it manually, which reduces the benefits. Thank you very much!

I would have responded earlier because I longed for it, but only when I looked now at your site, did I find that the notification remained in the spam folder. I’ve already set it up.

Thank you very much for update, but it only works on the first post (from “Most Relevant” to “All Comments”), all under it is still are “Most Relevant”, without a change.

From what I’ve tried (settings, other groups), it’s possible that you tried it on one post (here it works as it should, “All Comments”), but I use it to watch group posts, it’s the first ok, the others unchanged. Thank you!

Thank you very much for update.
It will be funny: It worked on the group! Fantastic, amazing work, thank you!
But then I tried it excitedly in a separate post and it works like it never worked. It opens the column to the right =))

After the first start you have to open it manually and run it twice, then everything is fine.
Or press Comments and then run. There was nothing like that before. Example https://www.facebook.com/Coca-Cola/photos/a.10150567797523306/10153099001083306/

Otherwise, I am very, very satisfied!
Too bad I hadn’t thought of looking for something like “Expand All Facebook Comments” before.

Your work saves me a lot of time and now FB discussions are fun to read for me!
Something like that on Youtube and I’ll bang my head against the wall for how long I could have been without this! I’ve done everything by hand, for years! =))

Did it click on or expand something it should not have? I tried the URL you provided: it looks fine to me in the default theater mode, and also in permalinked mode (i.e., after hitting ESC).

Sorry Jens-Ingo Farley. I tried the link, it’s okay.
            The problem enough probably is

You tried it while logged in, I confirm it works (probably, so my friend told me all ok).
Try it without an account. I don’t see by clicking on the link any theater mode. All the time I see on FB only what is public without an active account, when I get the link or I read bookmarked groups.

I didn’t think it would be different.

          2. Jens-Ingo Farley Avatar
            Jens-Ingo Farley

Yes, I see the problem when not signed in (there is an expandable post in the righthand column, which got expanded). I fixed it, which is to say it should only expand posts in the main content area now.

    Sorry Jens-Ingo Farley,
right now I can expand my most visited group and betrayal became. Just a group that has about 20 posts a day.
They changed settings. What I now found, facebook allows some badges. Now they have it like this:

    default: Most Relevant.
    all options:
    Most Relevant
    Newest
    All Comments
    Top Fans

Expand All only switches to Top Fans and that’s all.

        Hello,
Not a task for you but general question:
Do you think it would be possible to build such a service where people can subscribe to webpage updates?
Or perhaps websites are going to be obsolete with the advancement of micro-blogging sites like Twitter.

Fantastic bookmark! Is there a way to capture the post’s content (after using expand all) in a searchable format that retains all the original content (e.g., emojis images, active links, user profile images)? I find that copy and pasting to Word or Google Docs, etc., does not transfer the Facebook user identities’ profile images, emojis (and some links) from news social media posts. It may not be of interest you to but I would like to be able to capture the page in its entirety (including active links, etc.) that I can then later search, if needed. Thanks. You have made a real contribution in many people’s lives!

I have no real experience doing this. Just now, I tried File | Save As, and the results looked promising but were not up to what I expected.

  16. Rasmus Underbjerg Pinnerup Avatar
    Rasmus Underbjerg Pinnerup

Can’t you achieve that by printing the page to a PDF? The results are not necessarily pretty layout-wise, but the resulting PDF preserves images, links and the like and is searchable – at least here (Chrome on Ubuntu). It might vary depending on your system.

  17. Jeff Frederick Avatar
    Jeff Frederick

Thank you both. I will use Ubuntu on a thumb drive and “try” it to see if it works. It used to be possible to do this in Word and Google docs which kept all the links “active” and showing the emojis (of course, the formatting was off). Now, that is not possible. I have used several browsers to no avail. Fingers crossed using Chrome on Ubuntu.

    Hi,

I had become so massively frustrated with the way Facebook (at least on PC via a web browser) required endlessly clicking individual comment threads to fully expand them and see their entire contents, and repeatedly clicking ‘View comments’ to load another screenful of comments each time you reached the bottom of some arbitrarily limited amount. This was excruciating to do, especially on popular posts such as those from newspapers which often had hundreds or even thousands of comments. Quite frankly, Facebook should feel ashamed for having to put their users through that, although I doubt shame or concern for their user experience is something that company has felt for quite a long time!

I did a Google search on the issue, hoping there was some way around this, and happened to find your Bookmarklet. Thank you so much for making this in the first place and then keeping it updated so frequently and promptly. Even in just this evening since discovering it, it has saved me literally tens of minutes of wasted time and frustration doing all of that clicking. Over the course of a year, it will probably save me days of wasted time in total!

As you very graciously don’t accept donations, I have made a small donation to your nominated charity in your name.

Thanks again for such excellent work, it is currently the single most useful and timesaving tool I utilise on the entire internet. You have saved a massive number of people a massive amount of time, work and frustration, and scored a massive win against a massive corporation who were thoughtless enough to introduce such a massive inconvenience in the first place.

    My dear Mr. Farley,
Your bookmarklet has saved us all from the… decimation of facebook dialogue!

I hope you are well… but I have an URGENT REQUEST if you read this:

-Facebook has made the option “see only relevant comments” obligatory (for profiles of not-so-low traffic) and this makes your bookmarklet useless, at the moment. It takes this option for granted and expands only “relevant comments”!

What is needed urgently is a modification of your code to select “all comments” before expanding them.

I’m a programmer myself but not so experienced in JS. (My specialty is PROLOG and Assembly Language), so I make this request, hoping for the best.

Be well, THE WORLD NEEDS YOU.
    George A. Stathis

    1. Jens-Ingo Farley Avatar
      Jens-Ingo Farley

Can you provide a public URL that shows the problem (either here or to me in private)? I don’t doubt you, but I need to reproduce the problem (as of now, I can’t) to be able to fix it and test it into the future.

      1. George Stathis (Omadeon) Avatar

Well as you know, any “public URL” in facebook is only visible if one is logged-in. So, e.g. here is one of my public posts here (never mind the Greek, my main language is English)… where if one uses your bookmarklet, it’s impossible for it to work for “all comments”: It always slips into “relevant comments”-mode, before expanding them, so it always misses some comments:

        https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php/?story_fbid=706913157215997&id=608198347

And here is another post, from 2018. The option “relevant comments” now also applies to older posts, and it’s not possible for your bookmarklet to reveal all comments, since -again- it switches over to “relevant comments”, no matter what a reader chooses:
        https://www.facebook.com/george.omadeon/posts/pfbid02JKMmJwq65MtEkiMhXb4VwrViD7sRZQN6bz5ip9FRERqQ9cXjFdD7V4NgnDj1hwZil

If you require further info, I can take a video of screen activity and upload it somewhere, but I’m pretty sure you will discover the problem yourself from the above examples, provided you are logged-into f/b.

        Thanks for your time!

        1. Jens-Ingo Farley Avatar
          Jens-Ingo Farley

Thanks for the URLs. I have updated the bookmarklet. Sadly, I think I started a ping-pong effect (break-fix-break). It works now with both your URLs and some of mine that I saved, but I know that Facebook has changed over the years, and I can no longer find some of the weirder cases I used to test.

But I just found one. It might not be fixable without parsing languages, which I refuse to do. I will consider what to do and attempt to fix it shortly.

        2. Jens-Ingo Farley Avatar
          Jens-Ingo Farley

I’d like to ask you a question, as things are headed towards a single-language (English) solution. Do you (and your friends/followers) use Facebook in Greek or English? For example, are we talking about “Όλα τα σχόλια” or ”All comments”?
